Chance's Story

CHANCE

Sandy Mabry

Last December 18, 2019 my live was changed forever.

Backup 3 months, I was looking high and low for the perfect dog. Perfect to me. I had lost my husband of 14 years in a car accident in March of 2017, and I needed a fur baby to help heal my heart and fill the loneliness in my life. Every time I thought I had found the perfect fit, something always got in the way and it didn't work out.

I was on Facebook and I happened to see this dog posted on the Friends of FCAC page. His name was Carlos and he was going to be euthanized if he wasn't adopted soon. My heart jumped out of my chest at the sight of this gorgeous boy. I posted and said I wished I had the money to adopt this baby, that I would take him in a heartbeat.

My prayers were answered when an angel saw my response and paid his adoption fee in full. Carlos was neutered and microchipped by Thompsonville Veterinary Clinic and 2 days later a good friend of mine, Brian Jarzynka, drove me the 3-1/2 hours south to pick up my sweet boy.

Carlos was very skinny, 40 pounds soaking wet, had hair loss, and was very unhealthy, but the happiest fur baby and wiggle butt I'd ever seen. I changed his name to Chance because he was given a second chance.

Because of Friends of FCAC and my donor angel, I was able to turn this precious boy's life around.

Chance is now a very spoiled, gorgeous 85 pound fur baby. He's a true "rags to riches" story and he's my whole heart!! Chance has been my best friend, confidante, co-pilot, and my saviour.  He came into my life right when I needed him. God knew what both of us needed.
